With Spring Equinox behind us and warmer sun-filled days ahead, you might be feeling the call to dive into some “Spring cleaning.” Remember that Spring cleaning can take place inside and out! In addition to refreshing your nest, it’s equally as important to “refresh” your health for the season ahead. Read on to learn 4 tips to restart your health this Spring.

 

1. Daily Nourishing Herbal Infusion

Now's the time to enjoy all your favorite nourishing and nutritive herbs in a simple daily infusion. Think oatstraw (Avena sativa), nettle (Urtica dioica), violet (Viola odorata) leaf, alfalfa (Medicago sativa), and raspberry (Rubus idaeus) leaf, among others! These herbs are often more neutral in flavor so blending herbs together in a tea formula is generally easier. Consider adding some flavor enhancing herbs (with added health benefits) for taste. Examples of these include: spearmint (Mentha spicata), licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), and cinnamon (Cinnamomum spp.). 2. Fresh Spring Greens

During wintertime we tend to eat denser and heavier foods that are more starch-heavy and less nutrient-rich. Come Springtime, take advantage of all the fresh nutrient-packed edible greens that are bursting forth from the earth! Many of these greens, like dandelion leaves and creasy greens, are more bitter in flavor and can help stimulate our body’s natural detoxification pathways in a gentle way. Just what we need after a long cold winter!

 

3. Get Moving

After spending more hours indoors than not each day, inviting fresh movement and energy into your lymphatic system is the perfect way to restart your health this Spring. Go for a brisk walk outside, dance in the fresh air, or go for a hike with a friend. Your body (and mind) will thank you.

 

4. Clear the Air 

Its important to clear and purify the air in your space as part of your Spring cleaning regimen. After a long season filled with bugs and viruses circulating around, clearing out the air using purifying essential oils and plant-based resins is vital. We love heating a charcoal round in a burner bowl, placing a chunk of our favorite resin on top (currently loving Copal and Oppopanax!), cracking a window, then walking around the house and gentling blowing the smoke around all the nooks and crannies.
