Herbs for Colds & Flu

In recent years viral respiratory tract infections, especially influenza viruses, have had a major impact on communities worldwide. Herbal remedies provide a real and hopeful alternative in the treatment and prevention of these illnesses. Herbal and nutritional remedies work by strengthening the body’s innate defenses against illness which is crucial for many reasons. 


Through addressing the root causes of illness and supporting the body’s innate defense system the individual is more likely to overcome the illness quicker. While over-the-counter medications can provide immediate relief from symptoms, they can also drive illness deeper in the body, suppressing the body’s innate ability to fight off infection and illness. The fever, for example, is a sign of our body’s immune response and is one of our primary defense mechanisms against infection. Although it might seem counterintuitive at first, sometimes supporting this response is the body’s best chance at overcoming illness. Herbs can also provide powerful symptom relief while the individual is experiencing illness. There are many herbs that work to relieve congestion, coughs, aches and more!
